As Zhuge Liang is granted the title of “Wuxiang Hou“ (Marquis Wuxiang) in his lifetime and conferred the title of “Zhong Wu“ after his death, his memorial temple is also known as Wuhou Memorial Temple. Of all the Wuhou Memorial Temples throughout China, the one in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province is most influential, as it is the sole temple in memory of both King Liu Bei and his Prime Minister Zhuge Liang. Facing south, Chengdu Wuhou Memorial Temple consists of five major buildings, namely, the Entrance Gate, the Second Gate, the Zhao Lie Temple of Han (in memory of Liu Bei), the Connecting Hall and the Wuhou Temple. Behind the Wuhou Temple are the Sanyi Temple and the Jieyi Building. The Huiling Mausoleum is the buried place for Liu Bei specially chosen by Zhuge Liang. Also facing south, the mausoleum consists of the screen wall, the fence door, the Sacred Way and the Memorial Hall. Welcome to China for Canton trade fair. Wuhou Memorial Temple is located towards south with five main sections which are the Gate, the Second Gate, the Hall of Liu Bei, Corridor and the Hall of Zhuge Liang. All these five are arranged very well on an axle wire from south to north. Among them, Hall of Liu Bei is the highest one. Behind Wuhou Memorial Temple, there are also other buildings.
The temple houses many inscribed stone tablets. Many of the sayings and poems written on these tablets are well known. The most valuable and famous tablet was set up in 805 AD. It is 144 inches high and 37 inches wide. It is called the Tablet of Triple Success. It is called this because the text was originally penned by a famous official named Pei Du, then stylized by Liu Gongchuo who was one of China's most famous calligraphers, and then his calligraphy was carved in the tablet by a noted engraver named Lu Jian. It is some of China's finest ancient literature and craftsmanship.
