The cave between the elephant's "trunk" and the "body" is known as Shuiyue Cave (Moon over the Water Cave).  In the days of King Songtsan Gampo, Ramoche Temple was originally built to house the famous statue of Sakyamuni, now found in the Jokhang, which was originally brought to Tibet by Princess Wen Cheng. Legend has it that when Princess Wen Cheng and her entourage arrived at the North gate of Lhasa, her carriage got stuck in the mud. Her assistants could not remove the statue and so they covered it temporarily with 4 pillars and white brocade. Later, the Princess ordered the construction of Ramoche as a shrine for the statue. And the temple faces easte which said that Princess Wencheng wanted to show her homesickness. Twenty years later, in 652 A.D., the leader of Tibet was concerned with rumours that the Chinese Emperor was considering an invasion of Tibet. As a protection, he moved the Sakyamuni statue from the Ramoche to the Jokhang, and hid it from view. It had remained there ever since. In exchange Ramoche Temple received a smaller bronze statue of Sakyamuni, which has been brought to Tibet by Songtsan Gampo's other wife, the Nepalese Princess Tritsun. By the mid-15th century the temple had become Lhasa's Upper Tantric College(Mi zong).

The Water Cube is located in the Olympic Green

The Water Cube is located in the Olympic Green, the focal point for the Beijing Games. The design was voted as the clear winner by the people of China in a competition for their favourite design. The square shape of the Water Cube is a reflection of the Chinese symbol for Earth, while the adjacent circular form of the National Stadium, also design-engineered by Arup, represents Heaven.

The form of the Aquatics Centre was inspired by the natural formation of soap bubbles. Arup’s engineers realised that a structure based on this unique geometry would be highly repetitive and buildable while appearing organic and random. The result is a very simple regular building form, with very complex geometry in the fa?ade which is used for beautiful effect.
The National Aquatics Center, also known as Water Cube, was built in Olympic Green as the main venue for the swimming competition of the 2008 Summer Olympics. It is also a landmark project in the 2008 Olympics. The design of the Water Cube was derived from the victorious proposal in the international architectural competition for the aquatics center project. It started on December 24th 2003 and completed on January 28th 2008.
The membrane structure of Water Cube has been unparalleled in the world. It is based on the constitution of cells and natural formation of soap bubbles. The originality is pretty vagarious. The wall and proof of Water Cube both has 3 layers and it comprises a steel space frame by over 30000 steel structural members. None of the two are placed identically, which is China’s self-renovation, filling a blank in the history of Architecture. In Chinese culture, water is an important nature element. It can revive people’s happy mood. After the Olympic, it has turned into the largest aquatic paradise in Beijing. The designers cudgeled their brains for various aquatic recreations to cater for the interest of customers in different ages. It not only arouses people’s inspiration and passion, but also enriches people’s life and leaves them good memories.

Turpan Depression is the third lowest point around the Earth's surface

Turpan Depression is the third lowest point around the Earth's surface. A 33765 km2 area from the Turpan Depression has been examined by using a number of image processing methods with Idrisi Taiga program within this project. The geographical place produced the depression extremely dry and hot. The excellent wind condition of the region enables the setting of Dabancheng Wind Farm. NDVI is sensible to identify vegetation covering and water bodies. The reduce in water bodies and improve in vegetation inside of the depression from 1998 to 2010 may have resulted from the irrigation system or other factors within the region. By clasification and area calculation tools in Idrisi, the precise area of vegetation covering can be calculated, and 0.1% decrease in vegetation covering from 1998 to 2010 was concluded. The composite image by combining bands two, NDVI and five corresponded with blue, green and red show dramastic color contrast. Water bodies are obviously shown in the NDVI composite images, and also the water in Aydingkol Lake decreased from 1998 to 2010. TM bands 345 and 147 composites are effective to detect sand dunes.
